Over 50 Percent of Tech Decision-Makers Surveyed Prefer Independent Shows like ITEXPO


Transforming Network Infrastructure Community Announces Results for May Survey on Industry Events

Norwalk, Conn. - June 17, 2016Transforming Network Infrastructure Community sponsored by Fiber Mountain and produced by TMCnet announced the findings of a survey of technology decision makers and their view of  different types of industry events. In May hundreds of community visitors were asked, “If you had to select only one trade show or conference that you could attend annually, what would you choose?” 

The results are as follows:

The top selection was independent shows like ITEXPO, Interop, OFC, etc., garnering more than 50 percent of the votes. An independent event will offer a bias-free, more open look at what’s going on in the space. For instance, a show like ITEXPO has vendors from the data center space, communications and more.

Earning 25 percent of responses was vendor sponsored events like VMworld and Cisco Live.  An event like Cisco Live is designed for IT professionals worldwide and provides five days of education, training and network while having the ability to work specifically with Cisco products.

Industry analyst run events placed third, slightly behind vendor sponsored events with 20 percent of respondent support. Gartner, IDC and EFM run a number of events annually, with each offering attendees a different flavor. For instance, Gartner’s Data Center Infrastructure & Operations Management Conference is aimed at aiding the implementation of ultra-agile, scalable and responsive infrastructures by leveraging SDN, the cloud, virtualization and other burgeoning areas of development.

“With the ability to meet with a variety of industry leaders, connect with colleagues from across industries and receive training, certification and insight from a spectrum of different companies, independent events like ITEXPO simply offer more opportunities,” said TMC’s CEO, Rich Tehrani. “The results of this survey reinforce the trends we see event after event. Analyst run and vendor sponsored events have their benefits but more and more we see events like these collocating with industry events to expand their reach.”
