American Cancer Society's Jay Ferro to Discuss IT Challenges at ITEXPO

Leading health organization to share best strategies at business technology event

Norwalk, CT—July 31, 2014—Today TMC announced that American Cancer Society CIO Jay Ferro will be delivering a keynote at ITEXPO Las Vegas, held August 11-14, 2014, at The Rio in Las Vegas, Nevada. The leading business technology event is designed to provide insight into the latest industry trends, including cloud computing, large-scale enterprise IP communications, unified communications, regulatory issues and more. Ferro will give his keynote on Wednesday, August 14, at 1:30 pm.

“I am honored to deliver a keynote speech at ITEXPO Las Vegas. My presentation speaks to the elements and efforts behind how IT has enabled business transformation at the American Cancer Society,” said Ferro. “My hope is that attendees come away from the discussion energized and empowered with ideas to effect positive change within their own teams or businesses and equipped with a few lessons learned to make theirs a smoother transformation.”

The American Cancer Society is a nationwide community-based voluntary health organization, dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem. Headquartered in Atlanta, they are organized into 11 geographic divisions, with more than 900 local offices nationwide, and a presence in over 5,100 communities. In his keynote presentation, Ferro will cover the state of IT in his organization prior to the beginning of transformation and the challenges the organization faced from a technology perspective. He will cover how IT prepared for transformation and the successful strategies IT has developed along the way. This overview of improving, stabilizing and transforming IT and how these things support the business objectives of the enterprise includes lessons learned and how a fast-track methodology has made incremental, repeatable and sustainable changes for this organization.

“The American Cancer Society is a widely recognized and respected organization that has advocated for a cause that many people can personally relate to, and we’re thrilled to welcome Jay to ITEXPO,” said Rich Tehrani, TMC CEO and conference chairman. “Jay will provide an impactful keynote that addresses the IT strategies and best practices that our attendees want to learn to bring successful technology transformations to their own businesses.”
