FAST Expo to Feature U.S. Olympic Committee's Sports Technologist
Mounir Zok to provide insight on the latest wearable innovations at NYC event
Norwalk, Conn. – July 14, 2014 – TMC announced today that Mounir Zok, senior sports technologist at the United States Olympic Committee, will provide a keynote address at the Fitness & Sports Wearable Technology (FAST) Expo II, held July 22, 2014, at The Javits Center in New York City. Collocated with the Wearable Tech Conference & Expo III, the FAST Expo will provide expertise and insight into the thriving market of fitness and sports technologies, with a focus on the use of wearable, mobile and data innovations. Zok will deliver his keynote on July 22 at 6:15 pm.
“We are witnessing an evolution in technology unlike ever before, and it is our responsibility, as technologists, to guarantee that solutions are tailored to and centered around the users and their needs,” said Zok.
Founded in 1894 and headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colorado, the USOC serves as both the National Olympic Committee and National Paralympic Committee for the United States. As such, the USOC is responsible for the training, entering and funding of U.S. teams for the Olympic, Paralympic, Youth Olympic, Pan American and Parapan American Games, while serving as a steward of the Olympic Movement throughout the country.
In his role with the USOC, Zok leads and manages the development of innovative sports technology solutions for U.S. Olympic and Paralympic sports programs. Zok’s address will demonstrate how the USOC is using wearable technology to prepare U.S. Olympic and Paralympic athletes, and hopefuls, for the upcoming Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The presentation will illustrate how innovative thinking and human-centered design are helping Team USA find the competitive edge through technology.
“Mounir has a robust background in the sports and fitness technology industry—especially in human-centered design and lean development principles,” said Rich Tehrani, TMC CEO and conference chairman. “We look forward to his keynote at the FAST Expo this year. He will provide attendees a valuable perspective on the current and future state of the wearable, mobile and data technology industry.”
