Will Microsoft Teams Replace the PBX?
Microsoft, Slack, Zoom, Cisco and several other brands are doing their best to bring Unified Communications to the mainstream. Collaboration tools from these vendors, including video, conferencing, enterprise collaboration, chat, whiteboarding and more, are gaining widespread acceptance in the workplace. But there’s a problem: Their vision of collaboration does not play well with the traditional PBX. Microsoft with its Skype successor, Teams, has made the largest impact. With more than 15 million daily active users and growing, including the migration of 50 million Skype for Business users, is creating a real conflict for businesses. Businesses want the new communications tools, which are often part of their Office 365 licenses, but adopting the Teams model may mean giving up PBX features on which they rely, because it’s confusing and inefficient to operate two separate communication systems. This session will explore this trend in detail by comparing the latest offerings from the new world of UC&C, considering realworld deployment models, offering options for enterprises looking for the best of both worlds, and discussing what the future holds.

The Covergence of Network and Security
SDWAN is rapidly transforming how networks operate and how application performance and resiliency are optimized with intelligent algorithms to deliver the established business policies. Security has always been the number one concern for network operators and SDWAN security features have enabled businesses to utilize costeffective high bandwidth broadband options. To further protect customer data, the next wave of SDWAN enhancements will incorporate more advanced security features including next generation firewalls and Unified Threat Management features. SDWAN includes the flexibility to deploy security in a tailored fashion to meet your needs – onpremises with a dedicated device or integrated into the SDWAN device, in the cloud, or as hybrid solution with a combination of onpremises and cloudbased security. SDWAN provides unprecedented visibility and control enabling network administrators to quickly identify anomalies and take corrective action on a network wide basis or on a granular location or device basis. These new big data insights also provide the intelligence to upgrade network elements based on emerging traffic patterns to avoid congestion and potential failures.

Use AI To (Virtually) Hug Your Customer
You’re in a taxi on your way to the airport when your airline app sends you a notification message, an email, a phone call, and a text. “Hi, Barbara, your connecting flight #2001 has been cancelled due to poor weather conditions. I see that tomorrow is your birthday, so we want to get you home safely today. We have two alternative flights for you. Please select your preference.” From your smartphone app, you select the flight. The app replies with flight confirmation information, and follows up with an email and a text. The airline knows who you are, they know your situation, they know when it’s your birthday, they know about the cancelled flight, and they know your preferred connecting cities based on past flights. Later, when you arrive at your connecting city, you receive another notification inviting you to their lounge for a birthday drink, along with its location. This is the power of cloud data analytics and artificial intelligence AI and it’s revolutionizing the businesscustomer relationship. But, in order to achieve this result, businesses need to realize the role AI and machine learning ML can play within its customer servicefocused systems such as the contact center. AI and ML can provide bot selfservices and virtual customer assistants to help agents with realtime context, cognition, and intelligence. AI helps you predict what each customer will need next, and it puts context around the customer experience and delivers it across every channel. AI can also remove mundane tasks and ensures agents have information at their fingertips, so that they can care for each customer at a highly tailored, individualized level. This session will discuss: The role AI & ML will play in the future of businesscustomer relationships, and how AI & ML will not only simplify business processes when it comes to customer service but also greatly enhance the customer’s experience, building stronger bonds of loyalty and trust.

Can STIR/SHAKEN End the Spam Robocall Deluge?
Spam calls with spoofed caller IDs have reached unprecedented levels, to the point where people simply refuse to answer calls. They are easily the biggest segment of consumer complaints to the FTC and the number of robocalls on a monthly and annual basis continues to climb. Reports suggest as many as 4/7 billion robocalls were placed in July in the United States. While the TCPA theoretically should protect against spoofed robocalls, technology has evolved in a way legislators simply could not project almost three decades ago. So, if technology is the problem, it should also be the solution. Enter STIR Secure Telephone Identity Revisited and SHAKEN Signaturebased Handling of Asserted information using toKENs standards. This session will discuss the spoofed robocall epidemic, who bears responsibility for protecting subscribers, and how can modern technology help eliminate this growing problem and hopefully make it possible to actually know who is calling again.

Going Native, Mobile Native That Is: How to Fall in Love with Your UC&C Experience
The shift of UC to the cloud has improved efficiencies and costs, but often has failed to improve communications and collaboration for the growing mobile workforce. Current “PBXera” OTT mobile UC solutions have low adoption because they fail to deliver the usability and quality needed to drive significant use in today’s “smartphone era.” This underutilization of UC platforms wastes enterprise investment and leaves mobile workers unbound by corporate IT management and compliance controls. In today’s highly competitive UC market, the winners will be those who leverage their networks to deliver a more mobilenative UC experience. Takeaways from this session include understanding how the workforce is changing from deskbound to mobile and remote, how enterprises can meet the needs of the mobile workforce, and an evaluation of different market approaches for mobile UC.

MSPs & The IT Skills Gap
Despite the massive opportunity today’s IT service market presents, many MSPs are struggling to succeed. In fact, for every four new customers, MSPs in the U.S. lose three existing ones, stunting growth. At least some of the churn can be attributed to untrained technicians. As quickly as the cloud services market has grown, keeping up with demand has meant providers have had to expand their hiring pool to younger, less experienced techs, which has had an impact on customer satisfaction. The Massive MSP Cybersecurity Opportunity
The onslaught of hacks and ransomware attacks on data centers and cloud providers, coupled with increased regulation from the EU and U.S., such as GDPR, the New York Shield Act, and the California Consumer Privacy Act, means companies need to shore up their cybersecurity postures or risk being put out of business. Two of the biggest IT budget items going forward will be dealing with cybersecurity and regulations. There are thousands of cybersecurity solutions on the market – Some work well together, while others do not. There is no substitute for an experienced MSP or MSSP to help companies deal with vendor selection, a security plan, pen testing, BCDR, patch management, and other securityrelated needs. This is the largest opportunity our market has ever had. The best part is we will make our money protecting our customers from the bad guys. There is no better or nobler opportunity than that.

IoT Keynote Presentation by Google - IoT: Using Stone Knives and Bearskins
I tried to build a magic IoT experience and discovered some very hard technical realities. This talk is a reflection on that experience. While we are building interesting IoT products today, they are unfortunately fragile, tedious, and user hostile. We dont stop often enough to reflect on our tools. What are we missing? What do we need? Were so focused on short term product cycles that we dont stop and realize its harder than it should be. This talk will reflect on my failed project and what we as an industry could be focusing on instead.

AIOps and DevOps: Better Together
New trends, such as microservices, hybrid cloud, edge computing and IoT, are all creating more complex application infrastructures – with the intent of delivering better end user experiences. DevOps is supposed to increase agility and flexibility of app development and rollout, but the problem is the complexity of new apps makes it harder to actually perform troubleshooting and other DevOps functions. AIOps brings the automation that DevOps needs to be effective in complex app environments.

Using Unified Communications to Convert Wasted Time to Productive Work
Enterprise users are being bombarded with new tools that are supposed to make them more efficient and productive. But, are they really accomplishing that objective? Or, are they actually causing employees to waste more time on finding the right tools, locating colleagues, information, scheduling, and other tasks that actually reduce productivity? When deployed and used properly these tools are supposed to save time, empower workers, reduce redundancies, and generally make businesses operationally more efficient. This session will discuss how businesses can ensure that happens, from choosing the right solutions to strategies for maximizing adoption and utilization. The end result, when done right, is more work gets done with less effort, confusion, and frustration.

Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
AI, Machine learning and related sciences will change the way we are working in many industries: for sure the contact center world will be heavily impacted: how exactly? The most obvious thought could be saving costs by substituting human agents with AI algorithms. However this is not really the main kind of benefits we expect. There are many others significant applications we can deploy by using AI, and they will be able to create many new jobs in spite of the lost ones.During the session, we are going to see how to use Machine Learning to exploit the Customer Journey datasets, or the Data Mining for customer sentiment analysis and AI for other interesting cognitive tasks. The usual misconceptions will be tackled, in order to show how we can really benefit from the AI and related technologies to improve both the customer experience and the contact center employee skills.Design and implementation challenges will be explained, along with practical examples and also a video case study, related to AI application for natural language omnichannel application.

Where's the Revenue in 5G and Will 6G Matter?
As there is with every generation of wireless technology, the rollout of 5G has come with its share of marketing spend and media hype. Is the hype real or is 5G just an incremental evolution in mobile technology that most people won’t really realize happened other than seeing another number on their mobile screens? More importantly, where’s the revenue in 5G? Aside from mobile device manufacturers charging more for 5Gcapabile devices long before their networks are live in most places, how are service providers going to leverage 5G? Is the opportunity with consumer or business customers, and what will the revenueproducing use cases be? Does it even rally matter? Will the 6G hype cycle begin before most people have even experienced 5G, creating an endless unrealized hype cycle

Why Omnichannel, Why Now?
You want your customers to love you, right? Then you’ve got to meet them where they are! They want to serve themselves and generally do less work to give you their business. And when they need to talk to a human, they only want to deal with one. As customers, we can do everything with the phones in our pockets. Why can’t we use that same technology to interact with the brands we do business with? Companies have to catch up! Omnichannel has been a dream in the communications space for a long time, but it’s been a struggle for many organizations to implement. Thanks to new cloudnative, unified solutions, it’s easier than ever to achieve true omnichannel functionality and keep customers loving your brand!

Maximizing MSP Value for Inevitable Sale
MSPs are businesses and, as such, they have goals. For some, it’s organic growth; for others, growth by acquisition; and for still others, it may be selling the company. The MSP market has become highly competitive, with more businesses choosing to work with MSPs for their IT needs, but also more MSPs entering the market as traditional resellers look to get into the services business to drive recurring revenue. The net result is a market that’s ripe for consolidation. As an MSP, what is your end game? Are you properly positioning your company for an eventual sale? This session will discuss how to prepare an MSP for potential acquisition, how to make your MSP more appealing to prospective buyers, and what red flags do buyers look for. Even if you’re not looking to sell, understanding exit strategies will help you build a better business by developing an effective, customerfocused environment that is focused on success.

Why Cybersecurity Needs AI to Challenge Hackers and Thieves
Cyber criminals and hackers always seem to be a step ahead of business security solutions. To a large extend, it’s because enterprises and security vendors typically work reactively to patch holes in their security solutions after them. Can artificial intelligence turn the tables and help proactively protect businesses and their sensitive data? At the very least, it can help shorten reaction time by identifying attacks and anomalies faster. In this session we’ll discuss the shortcomings of even the best security solutions and what role AI will play in improving security capabilities.
